Lightest Squash Is Butternut Squash Considered A Starch Or A Vegetable?

Is butternut squash considered a starch or a vegetable? - lightest squash

I have recently been a member of Johnson & Wales in 2007 Teen Chef competition. One requirement was that they did not contain a strength. I julienne squash in my recipe, thinking it was a strength. I was very excited when I learned today that my recipe was incomplete by the judges because of the lack of strength. If someone could enlighten us on the subject, it would be greatly appreciated. Perhaps I was wrong. Grateful for any input.

I regret to say, but it is a vegetable. Most of their pasta is a strength (macaroni, noodles, egg noodles, etc..) Potatoes, rice, flour and starches. Good luck in the competition

The pumpkin is a vegetable. The starch in rice, potatoes, cereals, etc.

It is a vegetable, as far as I'm concerned, but you might consider a starch, because of the high natural sugar content is where all (most are) the calories.
